5 Systems Every Business Should Have From Day One

Let’s talk about one of the most valuable resources you can give to your business: systems. Whether you’re just getting started with your business or you’ve been in the game for a while, systems will change the way you think and operate. Systems allow you to actually implement your brilliant ideas and grow!


If you aren’t utilizing systems, you’re probably spending so much time running your existing business that you’re not able to focus on growing it. Accounting System- you need a way to track all the numbers going out and all the numbers coming in. From the beginning, it might just be a spreadsheet, but if spreadsheets aren’t your thing, that’s cool too. We’re giving you permission to invest in yourself upfront and set this up from the start. We promise you won’t regret it. Especially when you don’t have to spend countless hours organizing your finances for tax season. You need to know and track your numbers to measure your profit and loss so you can accurately create a budget. Understanding your numbers allows you to accurately package your offering and pricing instead of shooting in the dark or doing what everyone else is doing, just because that’s what works for them. Once you have determined how much money you need to make each month, you can use that number to work backward and figure out what your prices should be and how many of each service/offering you need to sell to reach those goals. And if the whole idea of numbers and finances has you feeling uneasy because you don’t understand it, lean into that feeling until you do. CRM (Customer Relationship Management)- Again, even if this is a spreadsheet you need to be tracking how people find you, who you’ve worked with, anyone you’ve connected with, and anyone who shows interest. Checklists for what you do on your admin day, for each part of your client process, email templates for the same exact wording that you’re constantly using. These are things that you can set up FO FREE to save you time, and energy from repeating the same steps over and over. Checklists also allow you to make sure you are remembering all of the steps in your process so no important detail gets left behind. Checklists allow you to take one more thing off your plate to free up your brain to focus on new projects that help you move the needle forward.

Task Management System: Trello all the way. It works for you. It works for your team. It works! This is a project management platform that can hold all of your checklists/templates/branding info/photos/passwords. Put an end to the neon sticky note madness all over your life. Email Marketing: Email marketing allows you to start creating relationships with cold leads, and continuing nurturing relationships with warm leads and past clients. If you ever decide to add some form of passive income you’ll want to have an email list of people to sell to and people who you know are already interested. You OWN the email list so if Facebook and Instagram ever go away you will always have a way to connect with your audience. Since people need 6-8 touch points before they’re ready to buy, get out there and send them some emails because that counts! Show them recent projects and offer value to continue communicating that you are the expert in your field.
